A Brisbane pub was swapping over to new beer lines. The old 225mm conduits had to be clear and clean before the new lines went in. Not a typical drain job but we do them.
Why disinfectant
Beer lines carry a consumable product. Any residue in the conduit path can migrate to the exterior of the new lines over years. The disinfectant pass between the two hydrojet passes gives the conduits a clean enough state to meet the installer’s spec.
What we did
- Vacuum excavated to access the conduits.
- Hydrojet the first time to strip loose debris.
- Disinfectant solution run through the conduits.
- Hydrojet second pass to flush the disinfectant and residual debris.
- Confirmed clear with CCTV.
- Beer company installed the new lines.
Takeaway
If you run a venue and are swapping over beer lines, do not skip the conduit clear. The savings on clean beer flavour and reduced line maintenance for the next decade dwarf the drain plumber bill.
